Alton Nolen Had a History of Convictions for Drugs and Assault


Alton Nolen accused of beheading an ex co-worker in Moore, Oklahoma
 A man recently fired from his job at Vaughan Foods, a food processing plant in Moore Oklahoma,  beheaded a woman with a knife and was attacking another worker when he was shot the owner of the company.  Alton Nolen was critically wounded and, as of this writing, is said to be unconscious.

Nolen, 30, stabbed a former co-worker,  Colleen Hufford, 54, with the same type knife that is used at the processing plant where he had been fired the same day.  He completely severed the woman's head, according to Police.

Nolen then turned his knife on 43 year old Traci Johnson and stabbed her a number of times before being shot by Mark Vaughan, a reserve sheriff's deputy and the company's chief operating officer.
"This was not going to stop if he didn't stop it. It could have gotten a lot worse," Lewis said.

Lewis told reporters that the suspect had been fired that day and immediately drove to the entrance of the business. Lewis did not know why he was fired.

Johnson was hospitalized and is in stable condition.  Police are waiting until Nolen is conscious to arrest him.  Lewis Vaughan told reporters that Moore police have asked the FBI to aid in the investigation and look into the man's background because of the nature of the attack.

Nolen was a recent convert to Islam and spent a lot of his time at work trying to convert other employees.

I found the following offenses on a public data base:

Beginning in 2011
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
  • Escape after Lawful Arrest
  • Possession Obtaining CD
I do not know, at this point, how long Nolen had been working for Vaughan Foods, so these may not have shown up on a criminal background done by their human resources department.  It is hard to imagine there weren't more to be found elsewhere.  I'm sure the FBI will find them if there are.  Please check back for updates on this breaking story.

  2. Vaughn foods has a history of employing men that are incarcerated. I was the case manager that started the relationship with Vaughn Foods in 2013. He was hired while he was in the half way house facility so they knew of his incarceration because of all the paperwork required to fill out, but they would have to do their own background to find out what his crimes were. He was on my case load, but I dont remember him, so he had to be a somewhat model inmate that went to work and didnt receive any misconducts like the rest of the men. During my employment at the facility we only had 1 inmate that stated their religion was Islam, and the Mosque would not come and pick him up for services.
