|America's Poster Boy for "Juvenile Pranks"|
Roland Martin America, no more. We will no longer accommodate your easily bruised feelings by clenching our teeth and praying it will all get better. No more. What do we want? Justice. When do we want it? Now.[...] This, folks, is war. This is war on racism. This is war on bigotry. This is war on stereotypes. This is a call to arms. This is time for the soldiers in the battle for social justice to stand up and say, "I report for duty, sir."
|Three Teens beat severely mentally ill man to death - the reporter calls the crime a "Juvenile Prank"|
What if Mr. Santiago had been carrying a gun and shot them before they were able to beat him to death, say, after the first few blows to his head. What would the headlines be? White man shoots three black children in cold blood, one died with his backpack still on his shoulders. Instead, the announcer on the video calls this horrific and brutal murder a "juvenile prank". Just a prank - boys will be boys. Normal for kids his age to get in a few fights, smoke weed, and talk about guns.
Sybrina Fulton is traveling the country blaming street violence on guns and racist self-defense laws. Violence, she opines, that is killing innocent little black boys. Wrong Sybrina, it's mothers like you that are the problem. You were an enabling, lazy, weak mother who chose the easy way out - you sent your kid off to a womanizing drunk and a dope/gun dealing cousin to get him out of your hair, KNOWING he liked to fight, steal, and smoke dope. You knew who he was and that he was a potential danger to society, and you sent him anyway, alone.
Sybrina, your money-making pity tour serves no one and hurts everyone. Most violence in this country is not CAUSED by guns or gun laws - most violence problems start at home. Trayvon's violence started in your home and in the many homes Tracy moved him in and out of. Had George not killed him George might well be dead, just like Delbert Belton; Miguel Pilotos, Ralph Eric Santiago, Christopher Lane, Antonio Santiago.
Race, according to authorities, played no factor in any of these senseless deaths of unarmed white men by black teens. Why not? Why is the DOJ investigating whether or not Trayvon Martin's death was a hate crime, and they are not investigating any of the above? Zimmerman never uttered a racial slur or made comments about black people. In actuality, it was Trayvon who made the racial slur.
I'm going to agree for once with Roland Martin, "America, no more. We will no longer accommodate your easily bruised feelings by clenching our teeth and praying it will all get better. No more. What do we want? Justice. When do we want it? Now"
